I know there are harder things out there, but qualifying as a secondary teacher whilst doing a PhD was definitely one of them. It may sound like a crazy idea but the year has provided me with first hand insight into what it is like to teach history in the classroom. (1/3).

This month I was promoted to Senior Lecturer. I never thought I'd be a Lecturer let alone a senior one so I feel very lucky. I had a terrible time with my A-levels and a 10-year gap between my BA and MA but it just goes to show that sometimes we are ready later and that is ok.
