In 2026, we traded our traditional two-day conference for monthly conversations hosted by local churches across Chicago through our Lead the City Conversations series. Together, we explored grief, power, formation, and emotionally healthy leadership with John Onwuchekwa, Dr. Deb Gorton, Sho Baraka, Malcolm Foley, Caleb Campbell, and Drew Hyun. More than anything, we loved seeing the conversations around the tables, in the hallways, and over lunch! Old friends reconnecting, new relationships forming, and leaders discovering they are not alone in the work God has called them to. As we begin planning for 2027, we'd love your input. If you attended any Lead the City Conversations event this year, take our brief feedback survey and help shape next year's topics, speakers, and format. Plus, you'll be entered to win a $150 gift card! 🔗 Survey link: form.typeform.com/to/Gv1FUgrB

Does your church currently have a residency program, or are you hoping to develop one in the future? We’ve created a short survey to help us better understand existing efforts, needs, and opportunities for connection across the city. Whether your church is well established or just beginning to explore the idea, your input would be valuable. Fill out the survey at the link: form.typeform.com/to/iwG0undX

This past Thursday, we hosted a free midday gathering for Chicago pastors and leaders on Christian nationalism with pastor and author Caleb Campbell. The conversation was timely and poignant, and we were grateful to welcome attendees from over 35 different churches and organizations. Caleb did a skillful job breaking down the nuances and helping us make sense of the current church and political landscape with kindness, humor, and a clear gospel hope. The table discussions that followed led to a rich Q&A, with people leaning into some really tough and important questions. Each attendee walked away with a copy of Disarming Leviathan: Loving Your Christian Nationalist Neighbor, along with a few next steps for continuing to learn and lead in their ministries and communities. We’re grateful to New Life Covenant Church for their generous hospitality and for serving pastors and ministry leaders across Chicago so well! We’re looking forward to our final Lead the City Conversations event of the season on May 21 at 11am, "Are We Leading from Wholeness?", a conversation on emotionally healthy leadership with guest Drew Hyun. This final gathering is hosted by TCP and sponsored by Chicagoland Collective, Exponential, and Crossway and hosted at Chicago West Bible Church. You’ll want to save your seat soon! RSVP at join-tcp.org/events.

"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." Bring theological training to your church. With several seminary and university closures in Chicagoland, affordable and accessible theological education is needed more than ever. TCP Institute offers local courses to help fill that gap, including past classes like Intro to Spiritual Formation, The Book of Galatians, and How to Study the Bible. If your church is interested in offering a course this winter or spring, fill out our interest form today: join-tcp.org/tcp-institute
