"God is Dead." That's exactly what Friedrich Nietzsche said. What i find very interesting about "God is dead" is that it is one of those unique statements or phenomena that tells some truths even without being true. When something that is not TRUE speaks or reveals TRUTHS, it is breathtakingly awesome. Two truths i want to point out from "God is dead" are: 1. Nietzsche didn't just toss those words out without reasons. Part of the reason he said God is dead is because of the brazen immorality, corruption and iniquity found in the precincts of the divine on earth. He noticed how morally decrepit religious people who believe and worship God had become. If a living God couldn't restrain his worshippers, especially the leaders from the worst of vile vices found among carnal men, he must be dead. Nietzsche would go further to say God was buried in the cathedrals and churches. So, Nietzsche's "God is dead" was a post mortem, an autopsy on the character and behaviour of Christians. When Christians become war mongers, paedophiles, human traffickers, fraudsters, kleptomaniacs, insanely corrupt in public offices, extortioners and murderers without qualms of concience and still carry on with public display of worship of God with pomp and pageantry, "God is dead" cannot be a blasphemy, it is a true post mortem. When ministers of the gospel use power, influence and affluence canterkerously like drug mafias while still pontificating, they are the ones actually saying; "God is dead", not Friedrich Nietzsche. 2. Nietzsche's " God is Dead" was also a philosophical postulation of a new human civilization. Nietzsche wanted a human society where right and wrong were not determined by God buu by men. It is a sort of liberated humanity who decide their fate by themselves. It is actually possible to create a society where "God is dead". Problem is whether humans can survive, let alone thrive in it. We've all read about the death of Socrates. By the account we know, he died a martyr, a heroic death. Well, part of the charges against Socrates was "corrupting the youth". It happened that Socrates, an atheist, taught his followers atheism, how to live and make decisions without recourse to any divine authority. The group of people he sired philosophically eventually had no objective compass for measuring what is right and wrong, moral and immoral. They mutinied against state authorities and their unrestrained immoral actions almost destroyed the state. Socrates was arrested in connection with their destructive vices. Where "God is dead", human beings are unhinged. Hitler and his gang were a curous group. They didn't say "God is dead" like Nietzsche, they acted it like Socrates' protegees. When God was systematically replaced with the Fuhrer, Nazi Germany unleashed an apocalytic evil and mayhem never seen before on humanity. This is a stark example of a human society where "God is dead" is a belief, a doctrine or a philosophy. The point is that humanity is doomed if "God is dead". Any where and any time "God is Dead" literally or metaphorically, humanity is doomed realisrically. Humankind needs God both literally and metaphorically to exist, survive and thrive. If God were truly dead, we would be all dead also by now. While Friedrich Nietzsche said "God is dead", Good Friday says "God died". Easter Sunday says "He is Alive". So, the God we serve is not dead, he only died once for our sake and lives eternally.
