Landmarks Commission also issued preliminary approvals for demolition permits for 5614 N. Winthrop Ave. and 1106 W. Bryn Mawr Ave., finding the demolitions would not adversely impact any significant historical or architectural features of the proposed Bryn Mawr Avenue District.

Landmarks Commission issued a preliminary denial of a demolition permit for 1114 W. Bryn Mawr Ave. in Edgewater, finding the two-story 1909 commercial building is a significant contributor to the proposed Bryn Mawr landmark district.

Landmarks Commission accepted a DPD report supporting landmark designation for the Bryn Mawr Avenue District in Edgewater. The report states the three-block district designation aligns with City planning initiatives for the area, including 2025's Broadway Land Use Framework.

Landmarks Commission approved a final recommendation for the former Chicago Daily News Building at 2 N. Riverside Plaza on the Near West Side. Designed by Holabird & Root, the 1929 Art Deco skyscraper was the first private office building in the city to include a public plaza.
