@ChicagoObserver @SoxOps7252 @CrainsChicago Her ward ends at the river. The rail yards are in Jason Ervin’s 28th ward, who is definitely not known as a yimby or anything but I’m no expert. I think it ought to be easier than in the 78, though, because there’s no nearby residential.

@ChicagoObserver @CrainsChicago Politicians won’t get in the way of a privately funded purchase…you must not understand the bears situation and are comparing. There is no way they could get in the way

@RossRead I’m a Cubs fan but my office is in the Loop and I would definitely walk or take the train to the South Loop for drinks and a game after work 🍻

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned in building businesses is to gladly pay for excellent partners - lawyers, accountants, bankers, etc. This also applies to my most important business, my personal finances. The value my advisor provides more than pays for the AUM fee, and also gives me peace of mind, which is invaluable.

For the love of God…paying a fee doesn’t automatically mean you make less. We’ve seen clients pay no fees and lose hundreds of thousands more than paying someone 1%.

1% investment fee per year will lower your portfolio by ~25.8% over 30 years. 0.10% investment fee per year will lower it by only ~3% over 30 years. That 22.8 percentage point difference could cost you $$$. Fees also compound. Pay attention.

After nearly 30 years @carnoustiegolf it’s time to move on. Thanks to everyone who has been part of my time at Carnoustie, the staff, the season ticket holders, the schools, the community groups, company representatives and salesmen, and the many friends I’ve made along the way.

@MicheleSteele @curatorWH Wait a second … I grew up in Rogers Park and never knew what this place was about. I think I just assumed it was a Romanian cultural center. 🤣

Pastrami’s roots trace back to Romania, where cured and smoked meat were called pastramă. Jewish immigrants brought it to NYC in the 19th century, adapted it to beef and made it an iconic Jewish deli staple.

@TraceyRyniec After spending all that money? Feel bad for them. Only thing worse would be on a long haul flight. 😬

Last week I reviewed a portfolio from one of the biggest wealth management firms in the country. The client assumed they were being taken care of. Here is what I found, and what it is likely costing them.

Honestly, the best outcomes seem to be seen with kids who study what interests them and what they have a knack for. The worst outcomes tend to arise from nudging kids into areas of perceived demand but not a natural fit. As a veteran parent having been through this, with the scars to prove it, my perspective is that the kids who are interested in learning - regardless of subject matter - will navigate their way to success and be happier in the process. Good luck to all the young people out there - honestly rooting for you! ☘️

What do you think are the top three majors for a smart kid now in the age of AI? Meaning, what would you pick to be your major if you were going to college next year knowing what you know now about the state of the world?
