@ereboKinetic Sounds like headcanon which is the point. Naruto and Sasuke clashed jutsu numerous times before this over the course of battle and at no point did “remnants” of chidori or Rasengan remain after the struggle/stalemate

@Chicken13iscuit You could, but it would be stupid to ask that, considering the shape is different and I already explained it lol. Almost like it's the remnant of a round attack, rather than a pointed one (because it is. Duh.) You also wouldn't be addressing the point being made.

@Chicken13iscuit No, it's not, since it's followed by an internal declaration he's not following Itachi's path and killing his friend, and yes it is. They make sure we're told twice that it's the chidori, chirp & all. In the animated version, you can even see the black chakra still being emitted.

@Acrylic_shadow No. Clash was a stalemate. They exchanged jabs after their jutsu leveled out making the shockwave around them. Sasuke’s decision was made to spare him when he was at his feet

@Chicken13iscuit Yes, considering Naruto's still alive in those panels. He'd be dead if Sasuke was actually going for the kill in that clash.

@RaiDizzy97 No. Both were gone. What sense does it make for the justu to clash and create the void they’re suspended in if their Jutsu still remain. The lightning is gone same as Rasengan. What we see is an exchange of jabs

@Chicken13iscuit Rewatching, the rasengan dissipated after Sasuke punched him but sasukes hand was still the chidori as the black lightning was still present In the manga it was animated in motion so the rasengan very well could have been present while the chidori very much was. The point stands

If Sasuke pulled his jutsu at the last second, with the way Kishimoto does flashbacks then he 100% would have referenced it at some point. It didn’t even get mentioned in Shippuden when Naruto asked Sasuke why didn’t he kill him?

@Chicken13iscuit But they are the same. You see Naruto scratch sasukes headband with the rasengan and you see Sasuke change the jab to a fist with a chidori. If they were able to just turn them off on a dime like that, the water tank moment never would have happened.

@RaiDizzy97 The CLASH and the attacks that occurr AFTER are not the same. He had his opportunity with Naruto unconscious and decided to defy Itachi then and there.
