Christine Middlemiss UK Chief Vet. Leading response to disease outbreaks & heading Government Veterinary Services. I advise @DefraGovUK on animal health/welfare

It is a tremendous honour to have made the 2025 TIME100 Health list. When I started on my journey to become a veterinarian, being on the TIME100 list was not on the cards. That’s not to say I didn’t have big ambitions, we all do. I didn’t know where that path would lead, but I followed it. Across the world, there are many of us who work quietly and tirelessly to improve animal health and welfare every day, often without recognition. And so, I am extremely humbled and grateful to see my name alongside so many inspiring health changemakers. But more than anything, it feels like a powerful recognition of something bigger than me: that animal health matters. And that it matters not just to veterinarians or farmers or pet owners, but to everyone. A decade ago, animal health was rarely part of the major health conversations. But today, I feel that tide turning. I’m elated that I get to contribute and witness this change. Animal health is everyone’s health, and we are better off recognising it. This moment is about every veterinarian, every animal health worker, every policymaker who has pushed for a more integrated, compassionate and forward-thinking approach to health. Thank you to @TIME for this honour. And thank you to all those working, often quietly and relentlessly, to protect animal lives, the human lives and the ecosystems intertwined with them. Let’s keep going. I invite you to read the piece: lnkd.in/epJ3ucQn #TIME100HEALTH #TIME100 #OneHealth @WOAH
