They didn't just wake up one day and say let's kill our business. They're doing this cuz it will make more 💰

I mean. Tbh it is a very nuanced “margin” that they give they say it’s 85% digital. However that includes digital only games with no physical so that skews it a bit, it also included in game purchases such as in game currency, dlc, etc. it’s not truly representative of what they are trying to portray. Especially for their first party titles. With the physical copy still selling at half/ above half. During those titles release when given the option. But Skewed data fits their goal and narrative better than what would be actually more accurate.

Randomly announcing that physical games will be phased out by 2028 is one thing. But acting like nothing happened afterwards, ignoring your fans and partners, and refusing to properly answer any of the questions is what really makes me even more angry.

Bloomberg gaming journalist Jason Scheirer and other gaming analysts don't think Sony is going to continue with physical games, despite fan outrage. Jason lists all of his reasons in a new video while some gaming analysts say even if 500K cancel their PSN subs, Sony still has around 50 million subs. That's less than less than 1% of the business. They are counting on people just accepting the all digital future because of their brand name and size.
