Parents: Speech delays can feel overwhelming but understanding what’s really going on makes all the difference. CAS and phonological impairments are not the same and require different treatment approaches.

Prosody differences are one of the hallmark features of CAS. Even when sounds are correct, incorrect stress or rhythm can make speech hard to understand. That’s why therapy focuses on stress, rate, and intonation as well as correct movement to produce accurate words.
