@wibblywobbly99 @NurseStandard What does a person's size have to do with their skill level? That also shows a lack of input from placements not all the fault of the student. We aren't always encouraged to answer the phone (for example!)

@NurseStandard Because they have provided evidence they are supposedly capable of studying at degree level. Have no skills or more than basic knowledge and patients suffer 24/7 due to dangerous incompetence & have had enough

@TheEMboardround Surely if its been measured properly and ph obtained nobody needs an xray no matter how old. As I say I've past many many NGs and never had a ph above 5.5 when measured properly and tested!

@ChildNurseLaura I think for kids in most places they only get a CxR if the pH is too high, as radiation exposure more of a concern. In adults some places do the same, but several check with both aspirate + CxR.

Interesting conversation today. FY1 asks really kindly if there’s anything specific I need to get done in terms of sign offs. Offer me the chance to put in a nasogastric tube on a patient who needs one. I say I’d love to, but the Medical school forbids us doing NGTs on pts.
