This is a completely different word than what I said. You wouldnt use a hard vowel I because rational is its own word. Ir-rational, you put a prefix onto another word and try to maintain the original pronunciation of the root word. Ir- as a prefix doesnt suddenly change pronunciations, that's not how English works.
