Hey academics! Do you have side hustles? If so, what are they? Had an eye-opening chat with some assistant profs from working class backgrounds and each of them had a side hustle to make ends meet/save for a down payment for a house/support parents.
i need a book recommendation that fits this description: "this book brought me to the brink of death, it tore out my soul and crushed it in front of me. i cried for days after reading this. 10/10 would recommend."
I’m lowkey jealous of people who can or want to read for pleasure. I wish I could rekindle some joy for it, but reading has mostly been work for me. Academia can make you feel embarrassed that you didn’t grew up reading books for pleasure.
