Chinese FM Wang Yi attended a meeting of the Group of Friends of Global Governance in New York. The current international situation is marked by turbulence and transformation, with countries calling for fairness and justice, aspiring for solidarity and cooperation, and longing for peace and stability. President Xi solemnly put forward the Global Governance Initiative (#GGI) last September. The initiative has received support and responses from nearly 160 countries and international organizations. Reforming and improving global governance is a mission entrusted to our generation by history. To this end, China proposes the following nine reform directions: 1️⃣ Promote reform of the UN to enhance its efficiency. 2️⃣ Strengthen the authority and capacity of the UN Security Council. 3️⃣ Promote peacekeeping operations to keep pace with the times. 4️⃣ Build international consensus on accelerating development. 5️⃣ Correct the course of international human rights governance. 6️⃣ Deepen reform of the international economic and financial systems. 7️⃣ Establish rules for the governance of artificial intelligence. 8️⃣ Strengthen governance in new frontiers such as cyberspace and outer space. 9️⃣ Promote exchanges among civilizations to enhance inclusiveness and mutual learning. 🔗fmprc.gov.cn/wjbzhd/202605/…

Chinese FM Wang Yi : In order to reinvigorate the UN, we need to first reinvigorate the Security Council. 🔹All members of the Security Council need to take maintaining peace as their mission, abide by the UN Charter, uphold justice, and refrain from acting on their own selfish interests or creating bloc confrontation. 🔹Enhance the voice of developing countries and small and medium-sized nations through reform, particularly by addressing the historical injustice faced by Africa. 🔹The objectivity, fairness, and inclusiveness of Security Council proposals should be enhanced. 🔹The international community should work together to reject all kinds of unilateral actions that bypass the Security Council so that unilateral bullying will find no market and will have no legitimacy. 🔗fmprc.gov.cn/wjbzhd/202605/…

For 55 years, as a permanent member of the Security Council, China has taken an active part in the U.N. cause. China will continue to uphold principles and follow the path of justice. Together with all countries, we will pursue greater unity under the banner of multilateralism, promote a more just and equitable global governance system, and move toward the goal of building a community with a shared future for humanity. 🔗fmprc.gov.cn/wjbzhd/202605/…
