@GuyLambert Such a shame to hear that the Watermans Art Centre is closing shortly (and suddenly) and without concrete plans for its replacement. I have been to lots of lovely children’s theatre shows there. It would be a real shame for the theatre to be lost.

@PauloCampbell We genuinely thought you would share our desire for vibrant communities, especially when it will reduce traffic and carbon footprint. If you wish to disrespect others, that’s your own issue to sort out I’m afraid.

@PauloCampbell Brentford will be lacking in amenities if Watermans closes, and it shouldn’t just be the preserve of those with £2m houses to enjoy a cinema a short walking distance away. The key thing is securing a commitment for the new Half Acre site anyway.

@PauloCampbell We would love to have walkable neighbourhoods, but to achieve that, we need amenities nearby. Sadly this is lacking at the moment, and will worsen with the closure of the Watermans Centre.

We cannot repeat that mistake. We need a firm commitment to go ahead with the Half Acre development as planned.

Watermans Arts centre is beloved by many residents in Brentford & beyond. I understand people’s sadness & anger at the news it is to close The council is providing support to the trust so it can continue its community offering & remains committed to an arts centre in Brentford
