Many Israeli nonprofits raise money in dollars but pay their staff, rent, services, equipment, transportation, and program costs in shekels. So when the dollar weakens, their budget shrinks. A $1,000 donation that once gave an organization around ₪3,700 may now give them closer to ₪3,000. That's a huge gap. And many nonprofits will not tell you this directly because they do not want to sound ungrateful or alarmist. But you should know. If you support an Israeli nonprofit, and you are able to give even a little more right now, please consider it. An extra 10%, 15%, or 20% may simply help them get back to the budget they already planned for. This is temporary and is about keeping essential work alive when the math suddenly changes. Please share because this has become a subject no one is comfortable bringing up.
