I'm so pleased to be featured in an @NHSEnglandLDN co-produced short film about strategic co-production in the design of services for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities. Please do have a watch! m.youtube.com/watch?v=a4pZKD…

Next week, I'm starting NHS therapy for Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID). The Counselling Psychologist who I'll be seen by has been proactive in understanding how she can reduce the likelihood of replicating iatrogenic harm I've experienced - how refreshing!

It's been a joy to deliver co-production & safeguarding training to @ucl PhD Mental Health Science students over the past few years. The latest (last!) cohort are looking for folks with relevant lived/living experience to join their thesis committees: coproductioncollective.co.uk/news/our-final…

I've been working with Vocal Collective CIC to make sure that people with lived/living experience of suicidality & self-harm/self-injury get a genuine say in what research in this area is funded by the @MedResFdn. Do check it out! vocalcollective.org.uk/new-project

It's #crohnsandcolitisawarenessweek. I have an ulcerative colitis diagnosis. I go to the hospital every 4 weeks for an infusion, but I have yet to find a treatment that has put my disease into remission. We need greater awareness of inflammatory bowel disease & its impact.

EXTENDED DEADLINE - 8th DECEMBER Apologies for being quieter online than planned over the past few days - I’m a full-time carer, and things have been particularly intensive recently. I’ve been incredibly moved by the support for the study and by the surge of last-minute 1/2

Pls share. Anyone know of a psychologist or service in the UK who can work with a client to write a psychological impact statement regarding iatrogenic harm from mental health services - not a legal/court report, more a clinical report. Feel free to DM if you want x

@jaunty_aphorism I'm so sorry you're going through something similar for *the same treatment* - it's unjust & painful & incredibly stressful & triggering as you know better than most. I wish you all the success with your case too 💖

@ChloeSApter I'm really sorry to hear this. In the same position myself. After being rejected twice, I won on appeal & then they changed the exceptionality criteria so I no longer met it. Currently pursuing an Equality Act/Human Rights Act case against them. I hope you win xxx ❤️

My individual funding request for specialist therapy was rejected. As a commissioner myself, I am privileged to have the knowledge to navigate "the system". I will fight to get specialist therapy to set the precedent for other patients, even if it progresses to a legal battle.

@ChloeSApter Oh my goodness, I’m going through the exact same thing. Went to panel, they said yes, but now they have rejected it. No chance to appeal. No explanation. No other treatment options available 😔 Where are you based? (If you don’t mind me asking)

I've had trichotillomania (pulling my own hair out) since I was 15. Today, I shaved my head for the 6th time in 7.5 years due to it. I've accepted that it's quite possible that I'll always have trichotillomania. I'm genuinely at the point of believing that "it's just hair".

As a child growing up in the "Tumblr era", I had a blog that attracted people seeking advice from me: a child. Undiagnosed autistic/ADHD & experiencing trauma, I felt morally obliged to offer support to people like myself. I now have complicated feelings towards peer support.

Similarly, my capacity for being able to engage in peer support spaces has completely depleted. I can carry my own trauma & bear witness to the trauma of my close friends: the latter is a privilege. I cannot hold space for strangers. It's self-protection.

As someone with a dissociative identity disorder diagnosis, I used to consume a lot of media related to this condition. In recent years, I haven't been able to. It's just too painful to bear witness to the consequences of trauma that is often perpetrated by other people.
