@kojo_united @_lawslaw Oh, you’re a teacher? Well, you can use canes to a certain extent. If discipline is needed, schools can use clear and consistent consequences, restorative measures, counseling, and parental involvement instead of relying on caning, which; if used at all should be regulated.

@kojo_united @_lawslaw I am not disputing the fact that, there needs to be more regulations in our school system now, that’s not what I’m saying. I am just pointing out the fact that; what was shared in the original post was and is still a wrong form of punishment.

@kojo_united @_lawslaw And who mentioned culture or westernization? You don’t beat people like criminals..reformation can take different forms. I know students who chose to be recalcitrant because caning was the main form of punishment. They would dress up, get caned, and then do the same thing again.

@Choccogh @_lawslaw One thing we should understand is that, our culture and traditions are completely different from the Western World. We don’t how they started to get to where they are now but here we are thinking that we should comply to their needs. I’m certain that experience didn’t kill you?

@_lawslaw @kojo_united Two things can be true at the same time. There should be more regulations in our schools, but any punishment that leaves physical harm/ damage on the person isn’t reformative. I have experienced that before and it nearly broke me down.
