San Francisco already offers free child care for families earning up to 150% of the area median income (about $230K for a family of four) through the Family Opportunity Agenda we launched in January. Today, we’re expanding it. ➡️ More spots: Nearly 750 new early learning spots are opening this summer. More than half are for infants and toddlers—the hardest care to find. ➡️ More families qualify: Starting in July, families earning up to 200% of median income (about $310K for a family of four) will qualify for the first time—with a 50% subsidy. ➡️ More providers: Starting now, providers can apply early to join the Early Learning for All network—so we can reach more families, faster. All this work is backed by funding voters approved and built with providers that families already know and trust. San Francisco will be the first city in the country where every family with a young child has access to affordable child care. If you have a young child here, you should be able to find care you trust—and can afford. That’s the standard we’re setting. Because when we support families at the very beginning, we strengthen everything that comes after.
