Does buying land make sense ? 1 acre example $10,000 an acre and pay cash Takes 30 yrs for the land to generate enough $$$ to pay for itself Or invest that 10,000 in the stock market for 30 yrs and that 10,000 is now $100,000 And in 30 yrs that one acre is now worth $20,000 an acre ??? Now let’s do it when you put $5343 down payment borrow $4657 so you have $300 an acre payments to bank for 30 yrs Pay $4343 in interest For a total of $14,343 invested into that 1 acre Value of land in 30 yrs $20,000 per acre ?? Now invest that down payment of $5343 for 30 yrs You will have $53,764

@logue_phil I don’t see too many people in Ag trying to stockpile. Most are like me, need fuel as per the normal schedule to operate. I can’t stockpile irrationally, don’t have excess storage. Not many farmers do. Their storage is geared to their operational needs and delivery reliability.

Diesel here is $3+ and rising daily. Going to be a long haul I suspect. I don’t think $4 is too far off and $5 is not out of the question. Hope I’m wrong. 20% of world supply is a massive shortfall, reduced usage will only be driven by price. How much resilience is there?

Don’t care who you are or how long you’ve followed me. I’m blocking. Anthony Albanese is the calmest, level headed, diplomatic, compassionate and respected world wide PM we’ve ever had in this country. Who else is there haters? Angus fucking Taylor? STOP tearing down the PM and government this country needs! When you do tear it down, you will be the first to come on here and whinge and bitch and moan and cry. I support Albo 110%! He’s NOT perfect! But he’s the best we’ve had in decades!

I love scam phone calls. I pretend I’m an old Yorkshire lad, desperate to pay them. My record’s an hour. I kept putting them on hold to “check my wallet,” yelling at my cat, and asking if they could speak up because my hearing aid was acting up. Then I spent 30 minutes reading my card details wrong… real slow. At one point, I told them my kitchen was on fire Great fun 😆

Not coming from an agricultural background, some measurements don’t make intuitive sense to me. A Hectares are easy enough to come to terms with: 10,000 square meters. Easy. An acre?! I still can’t wrap my head around this…

I remember petrol rationing as a child, Even and Odd Rego numbers on alternate days. yet this time, the panic seems far more intense. then again, we didn't have ill informed panic mongers with social media bubbles around to whip up.

I refuse to participate in the modern narrative that James Cook was a villain. Cook was born in poverty in 1728. He was not an aristocrat. He was not handed power. He worked from a young age, taught himself mathematics and navigation, and rose through sheer competence to become one of the most capable captains in the Royal Navy. What he achieved with the technology of the 1700s is extraordinary. He sailed into oceans where most of the map was blank. He charted enormous parts of the Pacific. His survey of New Zealand was so accurate that his charts were used by sailors for more than a century. Many of his coastal measurements were only hundreds of metres off modern satellite positions, achieved with nothing more than sextants, chronometers, and careful observation. His voyages were not just about exploration. They advanced science. One of his first missions was to observe the transit of Venus to improve humanity’s understanding of the solar system. He enforced strict health rules on his ships and virtually eliminated scurvy, something that had killed countless sailors before him. By the standards of the eighteenth century he was known for discipline, order, and attempts to avoid unnecessary violence with indigenous populations. He was operating in a harsh and dangerous era where exploration meant risking your life and the lives of everyone under your command. Was he perfect. Of course not. No human being is. Judging people from centuries ago as if they lived in our modern world is intellectually lazy. What matters is what he actually did. A poor man who rose to the top through ability. A navigator who mapped huge parts of the Pacific. A leader who pushed science, navigation, and knowledge forward. Men like James Cook expanded the known world and helped build the foundations of the modern, prosperous societies we live in today. That is not the story of a villain. That is the story of a remarkable human being.

@ChookSinge Imagine the worry in mining at the moment. A dump truck burns 4000 litres in 24 hrs. The last mine I worked at had 40 trucks running. Then there is 20 D11’s and 6 600 tonne excavators, plus all the ancillary gear.

Pauline Hanson wants an inquiry into the NDIS because of “wasteful spending”. When setting up an inquiry costs money. Bottom line, she hates the NDIS. No matter how many jobs it has created. She also hates the PBS. Where we get our affordable medicine from. To keep us alive. Like blood pressure tablets. Cholesterol tablets. Insulin for diabetics. In her opinion, we get too many cuts for medicine as well. Anything that we are entitled to as tax payers, she wants abolished. That’s her voting record. She wants all the big corporations to own all of it, and run it all for profit. So all the things her voter base needs, she’d take away if she could. But her voter base is too stupid to take notice. So let’s just take the easy scapegoat option, and blame immigrants for everything that’s wrong in this country. Because that’s easier than looking at her voting record.
