It is to be noted: some of the "whales" market making the ETH stuff are the same that are active on SOL and that just bridged their money there.
ETH is now surprisingly under-tooled compared to SOL, so some games might be more difficult to detect there, and this gives market makers an advantage.

I am not sure how often this needs to be repeated but:
Many tokens are pumped only when unknown wallets, "poor" holders, or wallets with a so-so history have sold. Very often, groups pump a token only if they know who is behind the top holders and bundles, one by one.
Your holding 2% of a token (also across multiple wallets) might very well be why that token will never pump.

there is a nuance to that, and that is that the "decided" part might not be luck but calculations by the (fairly tiny, still, does not take much liquidity to move tokens on SOL) market makers and groups pumping the token
if you are not in the right chats/circles of friends, there is high chance your 2% bundle will prevent a token from ever pumping

Two things to consider:
1. It is not a given the token would have pumped if he was still in. Tokens being pumped are more often than not scrutinized for holders, very carefully. Your 1%-2% position might be why a token never gets pumped.
2. He would have likely sold much sooner, like most other holders.

@thecryptobankr @lookonchain This is exactly it in many, many cases. The "token pumped only after I sold" is not an impression or a joke, it is exactly how it is being done.
There can be positions in between (e.g. we make sure we shake out these guys below 200k), but these days even that is rarer.
