Today, our inspector discovered a cracked frame and broken weld on the leaf spring hanger, rendering it out-of-service due to the severity of the violation. Please be safe out there.

One of our inspectors made a shocking discovery when they located this violation. After absorbing all of the information, they determined the shock absorber had broken in half. This was a shock to the driver who was already having a rough trip.

Overweight trucks are a serious issue in CA. This morning Grapevine CVEF had 9 trucks from the same project enter the scale with gross weights between 85,000 lbs and 88,000 lbs, well in excess of the 80,000 lb limit. #scaleyourload

Secure Your Load – It’s the Law All 50 states and the District of Columbia have laws regarding unsecured loads. Additionally, drivers are always responsible for safe operation of their vehicle – this includes properly securing anything that could separate from your vehicle.

Another great discovery made by one of our inspectors. A U-bolt, which is a vital part of a vehicle’s suspension system, had three of the four fasteners lose. U-bolts are crucial for attaching axles to leaf springs to maintain alignment & stability; especially under heavy loads.

No matter how bubbly your personality is, your air hose shouldn’t be. This air hose was damaged due to chaffing below the fitting and was leaking air.

Here is a good under the hood look at a defective steering shaft. Any absence of or looseness of u-bolts or positioning parts is an out-of-service violation.

A thorough pre-trip inspection is an important part of your day. The damaged section of this air brake hose should have been located on the pre-trip inspection. Any damage extending into the reinforcement ply of an air hose is an out-of-service violation. #pretripinspection

Winter Storm Warning‼️ We are currently experiencing high winds through the Grapevine. We are expecting heavy rain later in the day. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. Please slow down and be safe out there.

It only takes a few seconds to check the inside of your wheels. This type of quick check could prevent brake contamination or alert you to active leaks. #pretripinspection

Hub seals are critical for preventing lubricant leaks and keeping contaminants like dirt and water out of the wheel bearings. A failed seal can lead to seized wheel bearings, which can cause a wheel to come apart while driving, leading to an accident and extensive damage.

Even if your pickup has a declared weight of 15,000 lbs, always double-check your actual weight when towing. Overweight loads can happen fast once you factor in the trailer and cargo. In this case, the gross weight of the truck and trailer were 25,160. Stay safe and compliant!”

Today one of our Inspectors discovered a steering gear box with several loose mounting bolts, likely averting a tragic incident. Unfortunately, the truck was placed out of service until the steering gear box bolts could be tightened.

Traffic Alert ‼️ There is construction being done on southbound I-5 at Grapevine Road. The two right lanes are closed and traffic is congested. Please exercise caution and anticipate delays.
