I'm going on Tour!
Excited to have book signing events across the country for my new book Stay Curious and Keep Exploring: NEXT LEVEL.
See here for tickets: thespacegal.com/tour
Are you interested in NASA #ECOSTRESS mission and data updates? Join the 2023 Fall ECOSTRESS Science & Application Team Meeting held by @NASAJPL in October. Hands-on data training will also be offered. #LPDAAC

What a whirlwind trip to #ATS2023! I got to present our research on air pollution and COVID-19 outcomes, got to talk to #NASA scientists about the use of satellites in air pollution research, and of course got to hang out with my awesome mentors @GowdyKymberly and @SonalPannu !
1/ Our new paper in @ScienceAdvances found that neighborhoods with lower median household income consistently experience higher daytime land surface temperatures, with amazing high-resolution surface temperature data from @ECOSTRESS. #heatwaves#greenspaces#EnvironmentalJustice
First light data from the NASA-@CNES SWOT mission reveals that it provides 10 times the resolution of ocean measurements than data gathered by seven other satellites combined. These measurements will help us better study Earth’s surface water. go.nasa.gov/3z5hIJj
Received my acceptance letter for graduate school at UC Santa Barbara in the Ecology, Evolution, and Marine Biology department. I am beyond excited to work under the wonderful & brilliant @leanderegg ! I will be focusing on edaphic influence on tree water stress 🪨 🌳🛰️
@US_Stormwatch Amazing sediment plumes | In addition to the image published by @US_Stormwatch, here you go a more detailed view of one of those plumes in Bodega Bay & Sonoma Coast State Park - #California 2023-03-15.

Newest comprehensive evaluation of discharge inversions based on river width is just out! Work led by @lin_peirong. Manuscript freely available in the following link for the next 40 days! authors.elsevier.com/c/1gXl37qzS-PP…
Are you interested in using space-based spectroscopy for your research? Join NASA, #LPDAAC, and JPL for three 2-hour #Python workshops on Fridays in February to introduce spectroscopy data from the #ISS Earth Surface Mineral Dust Investigation. Register: tinyurl.com/2tp3cx3t
Streamflow can be estimated by #SWOT_satellite by combining its observations, with parameters estimated via inversion using one of many flow laws. We examined the sensitivity of streamflow to the flow law, observation errors, and accuracy of the inversion. journals.ametsoc.org/view/journals/…
3 weeks of California storms visualized in 30sec. ~30 trillion gallons of water! I shared a few points about the event here: linkedin.com/posts/ahmadali…
Data: MRMS (by NOAA) on AWS S3 (hourly, 1km spatial resolution)
Tools: Python (mainly xarray & cartopy)
Took advantage of gap in storm arrivals to update reservoirs-plus-snow diagrams thru this morning, at

A lot of snow water up there (e.g., attached figs)...Lets hope that it comes off & into rezvrs in an orderly manner, later. @CW3E_Scripps@DroughtGov
Ever wonder about how changes in @Mangroves are affecting flood protection benefits in #cyclone prone regions? So do we!
@SidNarayanMA & I are looking for a #postdoc to help answer this question & connect @NASAEarth data with hydrodynamic models.
The Water and Ecosystems group is hiring! We are looking for a technologist to work with SMAP, signals of opportunity, and more! This is a Ph.D. level position (electrical engineering, mathematics, geoscience, Earth science, hydrology, or similar).
