@Zonal_Marking The fact that every foul inside the box is punished the same way is my biggest hate about football. There should be like 3 different punishments depending on how likely the foul has stopped a goal. So much Ref drama and inconsistency is driven by the rules being so unfair

@Zonal_Marking I get similiarly irked when a commentator says "denied by the post". As if it would always go in if the post wasn't there.

I am convinced that most people misuse the phrase “the exception that proves the rule”.. It is often taken to mean “the exception to the rule”, which is surely something completely different. (The common argument that “proves” means “tests” always seems a bit far-fetched).
