@KeenanLance_ I think Lion version could totally work as a full-time costume. I thought Marcus To drew her really well in X-Force, but I would love something more dramatic for her than a bodysuit.

But I think he was clearly trying to do paired costumes, and HoM Elektra is more or less just standard Elektra, so unfortunately HoM Betsy probably never had a chance.

And they streamlined the characters like crazy. When I eventually read the issues, I was shocked how many characters had been cut (Betsy included).

@ckgarcia07 @braddocklegacy The release schedule for 4-5 was super weird. I actually missed the order date for any variants at my LCS because the cutoff for 4 was on March 9. But the cutoff for 5 isn’t until April 27.
So we got a really short gap for 4 but really long for 5. I haven’t seen anything on why.

Kwannon is Psylocke. She is the butterfly.
Plot-wise, it's not forced, because she was already called 'butterfly' before the body swap.
Editorial-wise, after 30+ years of yellowface and cultural appropriation, the Asian community is ENTITLED to an Asian Psylocke.

@theagentofatlas @lukeEvanB The Butterfly point is simply not correct. Kwannon wasn’t associated with it when she debuted, either verbally or as a power signature.
The association was added later, as part of a retcon, and clearly as a nod to the swap with Betsy. And she rejected the nickname as insulting!

@lukeEvanB The name: Psylocke only really become famous thanks to asian aesthetics. This is a fact. The zenith of Psylocke popularity came with Jim Lee's design. So its fair that she keeps that.
The Butterfly was as much as Kwannon as hers. Kwannon always was associated with it.

I'm a sucker for a locked room murder, so that plus the masquerade means this is basically catnip for me (Lioness pun only partially intended).
I also like that Vecchio gave Betsy a specifically female lioness look, rather than try a more “traditional" British lion with a mane.

@_princebambi I’m with you on all counts. Sad to see her (partially?) lose the butterfly, but damn if Lioness isn’t a great replacement. And I would love to see her role and her costume both get updates.

Betsy Braddock as a lion is near perfect. Outside of the British symbolism, lions are hedonistic and affectionate with those in their pride. They're also deadly and capable, especially female lions.
If she has to give up the butterfly to Kwannon, the lion is a good trade-off.

@LoopLuki I think it’s people frustrated that the X-office ended Krakoa but is still trading on it with the Vigil and this.
But for me, this seems to have a good diegetic justification, and I’d rather watch Agatha Christie than a Met Gala red carpet (especially since we still get looks).
