The Habs CAN beat any team. That is not a literal translation to they can “win the Cup” or even win more than a round. It means in a 7 game series with their scoring and (recent) goaltending anything is possible. Just see 2010. Cammalleri shot 25% and Halak dropped a .940.
GrumpaDotCA@GrumpaDotCA

While I would love to jump on the rah-rah bandwagon about "the #Habs can beat any team", the fact remains that #NHLPlayoffs are a different beast all together. IMHO, trying to remain unbiased, they are not (yet) a good playoffs’ team and management knows that. #GoHabsGo (1/3)

Tampa better get used to the Habs and Sabres pushing back on them.

You can see why Carolina has good possession stats. They just shoot from everywhere. Teams now generally peel back and look for support. They look east/west for shots. They choose volume over quality. Habs = exact opposite. They pass up good looks to try to find great looks.

@FiresideYankees @JonHeyman Why would the Pirates accept that deal? The best young pitcher in the sport should yield at least 3 surefire, solid MLB players. Sending them projects doesn't help.

The Yankees tried to make a move at the trade deadline last summer for Paul Skenes, via @JonHeyman A deal "might have included" a combo of Cam Schlittler, Lagrange, Lombard Jr., and Spencer Jones. The Pirates never called back.

I think they are results based because they don’t understand good process for goalies. And from my experience, goalie coaches aren’t heard to the extent they should be.

To solve it, you need somebody who understands goaltending, the variables that make successful ones and allow them to train the model. It’s amazing that it hasn’t happened yet because when you inverse the formula you find the best scorers

NHL goaltending is becoming one of the most volatile, unpredictable positions in all major sports. And as one team exec put it, "Everybody's making bad decisions." Why is this all happening? Inside the NHL's growing goalie crisis: nytimes.com/athletic/71241…

@JhanHky @gollum89035427 I tried to get around this by putting synthetic ice in my garage and trained skating and footwork for goaltending. But eventually you need to pay the price through the high end development teams and leagues required to compete. It really is a blocker for the average Canadian.

The term “rebuild” is PR for accepting purposeful losing. The Habs may not be in the Cup window, but the rebuild is over. They were a playoff team in 2025 and have been in a spot all year. Fans have every right to raise their expectation. Missing the playoffs is not an option.

Absolutely absurd fuck up by Matheson. You cannot do that shit in a 1-1 tie. The guy is valuable, but he has way too many of those ridiculous plays

Does any other team give up as many point shot goals as the Habs? Straight in or not tying a guy up in front?

Habs goaltending has been good for the last 5 games. Hopefully they have finally found some stability.

It is shocking to watch a team turn neutral scenarios into high end scoring opportunities against. The Habs better start scoring 4-5 goals per game again if they don’t want to fall out of a playoff spot.
