I’ve loved Professor for over 15 years, since he was a 6 week old kitten. On Thursday he died. We had just discovered fluid in his lungs so the vet was doing a chest tap to draw it out. She warned me there was a chance of decompensation but it sounded like it might just involve emergency care. When I asked what the chances were she said it had never happened to her. Hours later she’s telling me he died on the table. I didn’t even get to hold him or comfort him through it. He was just gone.

heute ist ein trauriger Tag.
Sunny ging heute früh über die regenbogenbrücke.
Sie hätte in einem Monat ihren 14. Geburtstag gehabt.
Am Sonntag 22.3. stimmte etwas nicht mit ihr, sie frass nicht viel, war sehr apathisch, so fuhr ich zum Notdienst-Tierarzt, der sie wirklich sehr genau untersuchte, er stellte dann fest, dass die ZÄhne schlecht waren.
Dann nächsten Tag ging es ihr noch immer nciht viel besser, ich rief den Tierarzt an und sollte am Donnerstag mit ihr zu ihm kommen, um die Zähne richten zu lassen. seitdem ging es ihr immer schlechter, sie frass gar nix mehr und trank nur noch sehr sehr wenig, sie wurde zuletzt inkontinent und eiskalt an den Ohren und den Vorderpfoten.
Also vor der OP untersuchte er sie per Ultraschall und nahm ihr blut ab, (als sie schon in der Narkose war), die Blutwerte waren fast alle ok. Außer erhöhte Leber-und cholesterin werte.
Dann gab ich ihr das Futter für leber, das frass sie noch am Freitag, ab samstag gar nix mehr.
Gestern war ich wieder mit ihr bei ihm und bekam ein Tonikum für den Appetit zum Anregen, die anderen medikamente verwendete ich nicht mehr. Ich hab alles versucht ihr das futter schmackhaft zu machen, sie drehte immer den Kopf weg. vom tonikum hat sie 2x erbrochen, heute früh wieder noch den rest und wasser. da hab ich gewusst es wrid nix mehr.
Ich legte sie in das liegekörbchen rein, so blieb sie dort, so machte sie sich auf den Weg über die RBB. ich fuhr mit ihr noch zum letzten mal zum Tierarzt und ließ feststellen ob sie tatsächlich schon tot ist. er hörte sie ab und merkte dass sie noch ausatmete, das herz schlug nicht mehr. so gab er ihr die letzte spritze.
Ich vermisse sie sehr...
R.I.P. süße Sunny, ich vergesse dich nie! Hab dich so geliebt. deine anderen katzenfreunde und meine Mutter haben dich sicher schon im Paradies aufgenommen!

I cant believe I'm posting more devastating news, but I had to put down my 20 y/o cat Glory today The one on the right). She had been ill for a while, but was doing really well. Then she went downhill quickly. I had to do the right thing for her. RIP, baby. Im in shock right now. 💔💔💔

It is with heavy hearts we must share that announcement… Sweet, senior Chai left us. She was in the latest stage of kidney failure, and it was too hard for her to keep fighting. These are the hardest moments of the rescue when anything we do is just not enough.
