Punters cannot be charged for bets they’re never actually going to be paid out on. If the ACCC ever investigated it, they would shut it down so quickly and the bookies would face serious fines. A growing number of bookies now operate however they please, largely unchecked, because there’s no credible independent body enforcing standards. The only genuine fix is a national regulator with real power to protect punters and hold bookies accountable.
