@MoorlandAssoc For reputable estates, allowing NE or contractors on should not be a problem. Owners will be justufiably proud of what is surveyed - whether great habitat or birds. This, however, gives the impression the @MoorlandAssoc is resisting or trying to obstruct which is not a good look!

🦅 Natural England is asking moorland managers for access to carry out Merlin surveys - but requests are arriving late, with limited detail, and involving RSPB contractors whose role wasn't properly explained upfront. One request even referred to "condition assessments" before being corrected to Merlin survey work only. Members are entitled to know exactly who is entering their land, on what basis, and what safeguards apply before agreeing to anything. The Moorland Association has prepared a draft response template members can use to request full written clarification before consenting. Don't be bounced into a rushed decision.
