@SwiftOnSecurity I had a job many years ago where I used dial up modems (2400bps) to remote control machines all over, including in Alaska over satellite links - 1.5s latency is actually pretty fast comparatively. I once figured out that the lightspeed delay alone was at least half a second

They were a former coworker and the new job paid like 3x as much and I was happy for them, but at what cost? That's like 1.5 seconds of latency. For VNC. All day. Every day.

I had a friend whose job was VNC'ing over satellite internet to oil tankers to do IT support for equipment display dashboards. I would rip my face off after 4 hours.
