My take on the High Court's latest #migration judgment & the practical consequences of a decision that overturned several lines of Federal Court authority & comprised vehement dissenting judgments #auslaw
AUSPUBLAW@auspublawblog

New today on AUSPUBLAW, @ChrisHonnery examines the HCA's decision in M1/2021 v Minister for Home Affairs and the cases leading up to that decision, and reflects on the practical consequences of deferring consideration of protection claims: auspublaw.org/blog/2022/05/j…

@the_kk The change India should consider for Aus is Ashwin instead of Siraj given Ashwin’s past performances and matchups vs Aus. Shami has to play. India should’ve learned that lesson after leaving him out of the 2019 semi final vs NZ

I know people are now laughing at the idea of Thakur playing ahead of Shami, but you see why India went with that combination when you see Starc and Cummins bat. They're genuine frontline bowlers, but they can bat. None of India's genuine frontline bowlers can.

Thanks @ChrisHonnery for 🌟 work with us on DVS18 in the Federal Circuit Court. “It joins an emerging line of cases in which courts have found decisionmakers’ adverse credibility findings were based upon unwarranted assumptions and illogical reasoning. 1/2 legalwiseseminars.com.au/insights/qa-ch…

Nikola Pilic on the Wimbledon final: "That wasn't the real Novak. It wasn't his day, even Alcaraz admitted it. For example, he served perfectly against Hurkacz but didn't make an ace for two sets in the final. If Novak had played at his level, he wouldn't have lost." #Djokovic

Stan Grant is one of the great communicators of our country. Again & again he tries to explain the pain & the hurt & the injustice lived by First Nations people... injustices most of us don't notice let alone understand. Stan writes to heal and we are lucky for that. Sorry Stan.

@steve_mcdee @jeremy_gans So a majority of the HCA say the full bench has to be involved in the determination of the recusal application in some capacity, either from the outset (CJ/Gageler) or following determination of single judge (Gordon/Edelman). Not sure how E’s obiter point squares with [191]

@ashhirsch Wish I’d had your statistics on hand when I wrote about this ‘erosion of fairness’ a few years back (when getting rid of the IAA was on the agenda). Are these stats based on your own calculations @ashhirsch ?
