Central IA Water Works announced Monday that water use is again restricted in the Des Moines area because of elevated stream nitrate. The world’s largest nitrate removal facility is no longer large enough to cope with pollution from Iowa’s corn-soy-CAFO-ethanol production scheme.

We don’t lack solutions to this problem. Contrary to politician rhetoric, we don’t need more research. What we need is political courage to confront those responsible for the pollution.

It also works for big meat as they try to disperse the untreated waste from the swine legion. This perversity must end.
