The Royals have had incredibly good fortune regarding health all season, and regressed to the mean on one play.
Even in a best-case scenario he wouldn't be able to return until the ALCS, and I think we have to accept that he's probably out for the year. This sucks.

@zach_london There is a great phase at the end of residency where both the resident and faculty recognize they are ready for independence and the relationship feels much more peer-like. I ask their opinions more like I would a colleague. It’s great!

This is one of @zach_london’s best soap boxes to stand on. Matches are great for fairness but application timelines this early reduces the chances residents are making the best choices for themselves AND programs get less of a view at differentiated candidates.

Lest it seem I'm picking on one specialty, I will mention that MS is not the only field with a problematically early timeline. Vascular neurology and epilepsy are almost as early, with several others close behind. I'm still waiting to hear a good explanation for this.
