The commencement of the Rain Semester at Kwara State University marks a pivotal moment for thousands of students. Yet, instead of focusing solely on our lectures and research, we find ourselves checking portals and bank accounts in a state of growing anxiety. Earlier today, reports surfaced of students in other Nigerian universities receiving a four-month backlog of upkeep payments from @NELFUND. While we celebrate this progress on a national scale, it highlights a stark and frustrating disparity: Kwasuites are being left behind. We have done everything required of us. A vast number of our students are fully verified on the portal. We have the "Verified Status," but as we all know, verification doesn't pay tuition or buy food. It is a promise of support that currently feels unfulfilled. The delay has persisted for months. We are calling on the management of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (@NELFUND) to move beyond the paperwork. We need an immediate transition from "Verified" to "Active Disbursement" for both upkeep and institutional fees. Financial stability is not a luxury; it is a prerequisite for academic excellence. We remain hopeful for a swift resolution, but our patience is being tested as the semester kicks into gear. It’s time for the authorities to prioritize the welfare of every student who has been cleared for this support. #NELFUND #Kwasuites
