Ryan Poles said the Bears expected the top of Round 2 to be where the run on defensive ends began. By No. 45, five edge rushers were off the board, and Poles said it was cost prohibitive for the Bears to move up from 57.
Poles: "It wasn’t really possible to get up that high without giving up a ton. And at the end of the day, we just follow the board."

@Chris_So_JDM @CourtneyRCronin Picking a borderline top 10 player at 25 is better than reaching for an edge when both are needs

@JakeHayes77 @WaddleandSilvy Probably will have to get him some reps at this rate then
English

@KyleBrandt Great, we'll score and lose because the defense can't get within 20 miles of the opposing QB

@BradBiggs Maybe they should have beat the run on pash rush and taken that in Rd 1. And Mcneil Warren was there at 57....

Asked #Bears director of player personnel Trey Koziol what the board looked like - generally - in terms of defensive options when the team chose TE Sam Roush.

English

Bingo!
David Haugh@DavidHaugh
I find selection of Stanford TE Sam Roush baffling, given needs on D-line and presence of Colston Loveland and Cole Kmet. Roush replaces Graham Smythe on depth chart and is solid blocker with excellent pass-catching ability. But seems like could’ve been addressed later. #Bears

@WaddleandSilvy Poles is so fuckin cocky "We can be selective"... and that attitude drafts punters and TE3s

@WaddleandSilvy @DriveToyota Anyone valuing a safety over a PASS RUSHER is insane. Could have gotten a safety later

Are you happy with the #Bears selection of Dillon Thieneman?
