Congress has not declared war since WWII.
Since 1945, every major US conflict—from Korea and Vietnam to Grenada, Panama, Libya, Syria strikes, and dozens more—has been launched without a formal declaration of war.
Presidents use broad executive authority under the War Powers Resolution, existing AUMFs, or self-defense claims.
Congressional approval? Nice in theory, ignored in practice for 80+ years.
Reality: The executive branch runs the show when it comes to military action.
