Doing some basic intern calc, we compared ETH and BTC in staking & restaking 👀 ETH’s total supply is 120.3 million ETH. Out of this, 34,176,254 ETH is staked, making up 27.91% of the total supply. Of the staked ETH, 28.5% (or about 9.73 million ETH) is managed through @LidoFinance, a major player in the staking ecosystem. Showing the interest of the market in being able to earn yield on blue chip crypto. The Ethereum ecosystem is bustling with over 1000 protocols building on ETHfi. Of these, 176 are focused on LSTs & 25 LRTs, building on how staked assets can be used further. Source: dune.com/hildobby/eth2-… Now, let’s project this into the BTC space: If BTC had a similar staking setup, with a total circulation of 19.74M BTC, and 27.91% of it staked, that would mean 5.51 million BTC is locked up. With 30+ protocols developing on BTCfi, we could see a parallel expansion in the staking and restaking ecosystem. This means that locking $1 trillion worth of BTC could generate yield and contribute to the security of the entire network. Big VCs have been heavily investing in the BTC Restaking space recently, and now retail investors are getting their turn. Bitcoin has never generated yield before, but that’s about to change with BTC Restaking. Spotlight on Symbiotic: They’ve got 1,493 BTC restaked with Swell taking a hefty 200 BTC lead, putting them in a strong spot in BTC restaking.
