I was scammed of N18k on Instagram last week by a lady, and to be honest, I can’t help but laugh about the whole situation now 😂😂😂 Her name is Maryam, and she runs a cake business. We’ve known each other for a while, so when she messaged me last Saturday asking me to support her business, I agreed even though I didn’t really need anything. She sent me her menu, I selected two items, asked for her account details, and made the transfer. She confirmed receiving the payment. I waited for her to send delivery details or a pickup location, but she didn’t, and I didn’t follow up immediately. I just assumed maybe it would be sorted out with the next update. Since I usually close late from Market, I later messaged her to delay the order, but she didn’t respond. It’s been four days now, and there’s still no reply or delivery. What’s even funnier is that she keeps posting on her story, showing the same cakes she sent me to choose from. At this point, I figured her account might have been hacked, and someone is taking advantage of her relationship with followers to scam them. But then again, the bank details she gave me carry her full name, which made me believe it was really her. Still, it’s hard to imagine it’s actually her. She doesn’t seem like someone who would be scamming people for small amounts, especially since I heard she lives in Maintama Abuja, which made the whole thing even more surprising.
