OK, but we are in a high commodity price environment where crap assets look better than they actually are. When I was a rookie investor, it was all about identifying quality assets in a low commodity price environment and avoiding going down the toilet in an insolvency. I guess I haven’t adapted to the new world of investing where everything is significant and spectacular without exception.

You clearly know and have experienced more than most including me. I just don't understand the need for blanket statements. Out there is someone young who's right but today his p&l and you are saying his wrong. And maybe he doesn't continue along this path. But we need more people who are right and get used to picking themselves off the floor. Otherwise the bad types are all that's left.

My main assumption is being unable to understand the current resources market. Its mostly driven by short-lived speculative themes, opaque commodities, the weight of hot money and drivel continually pouring out of Trumps mouth. Very different to what I am accustomed to. So when in doubt just get out! PS: I still love gold but I never expected it to rise so far so quickly (still holding 4) and will be buying back more when the dust settles.

You're clearly enjoying a moment here, so I think it's fair you share your assumptions. What is your assumption on the gold price? What's your shorthand for EV/EBITDA multiple, or whats your fair value CF yield. Lets be really fucking real, there is very little frothiness in this market except for the underlying commodities. Company multiples are near all time lows, so unless you think the gold price is really $3000/oz your pulling yourself off and I'm not here for it. Lets take Regis as an example. $5b cap, $4b EV, $250m FCF to the balance sheet each Q. 1.5moz Reserve will pay back entire EV in 4 years. Your assumption of an asset like thisbeing overpriced - and you are being broad brushed so you can't retract it now.... Assumes that none of the company's 5.5 mozs of resource come into the mine plan.
