Heading in to @talkSPORT London studios to talk Arsenal with Sunday Edition guest the great Tony Adams. Interesting debate about will Arsenal be worthy champions? If they finish top, of course they will be. They’ll have outlasted the rest. They’ll have held off a strengthened Manchester City side guided by one of the top managers in the world, a resurgent, brilliantly-coached Aston Villa, champions Liverpool and others. They'll have dealt with endless low blocks. It’s not luck. It’s good recruitment and preparation, hard work and individuals like Declan Rice, their real leader, taking responsibility. Yes, Arsenal aren’t the most aesthetic side. They can be when not faced with low blocks. They can be when Arteta loosens the reins. They have thoroughbred talents like Saka, Madueke and the under-used Eze. But the title race is not a beauty parade. It’s about resolve, consistency, determined and well-organised defending, occasional gamesmanship (sadly but this is the modern world), winning ugly if necessary and scoring however they can, including their heavy reliance on set-pieces. It’s never over with Jover. Arsenal have built towards this. No wonder many of their fans are nervous. They are desperate for this title and sound it. Talk - outside the club - of a Quadruple is ridiculous. It’s all about the title. It’s not luck that they are clear at the top, it’s planning short-term and long. It’s strength in depth: on the right, Saka gets injured before Leeds kick-off, Madueke comes in and excels, Martinelli comes on. Upfront, Gyokeres starts and rightly so, he’s settling and sharpening, and Jesus comes on. Havertz back fit. Arsenal have built this squad and this resilience. They’ve given themselves a great chance of the title. Arteta’s comments are less prickly, less annoying to other clubs, more precise and focused on his team. It’s now about staying focused, resisting the challenges that will come, still a long way to go. #AFC Sunday Edition from 9am.
