@meowkoteeq @reikodev Apps that look like Prism are usually either clean or powerful. Prism is both at once, so even though it doesn't look good it's the absolute best launcher IMO.

speaking of, is there anything wrong with Modrinth? there must be something! i had a 10+ year break from minecraft and had to relearn how to manage a modded client last year, which is when i found Modrinth. it's so good????? clean, pretty, fast, stable, no bullshit! very open, has APIs for pretty much anything (you can fetch their daily ad revenue with it!) . works on windows, linux, macOS. comes in nixpkgs. i submitted some mods and they scanned them automatically + reviewed manually before publishing (hey vscode marketplace whats up??) why? what's the catch? a commercial software product like this is not possible in 2026. is there some secret sauce that makes your product immune to bullshit? trans women on the team?

Fuck CurseForge. We are removing our mod from CurseForge immediately, for the following reasons (as well as *more* that I just didn't get to).

@osanisinake @cy1nic @katiserie Just try Prism if you haven't. Does everything the curseforge launcher can and more, much easier and more simply. It's not super pretty but it's incredibly powerful and convenient

@Catalystmoddev I actually love this so much, maybe someone could make it into a mod as a rare variant that behaves differently in some way

Open source only survives when people defend it, and with 1,200+ forks that have already appeared after threats over Bambu Lab-related AGPL code, what's stopping you from creating your own fork? The future of digital ownership depends on people refusing to back down. So get involved and fight for digital ownership. Link to the GitHub: github.com/FULU-Foundatio…

@BrunoGoldberg Extremely funny seeing this as I'm putting together an SMP for my childhood friend group where the entire focus is to play like its's vanilla, but Create and Farmer's Delight are in the pack.

@NovaWostra Came to recommend the Cascades datapack but someone already did. it has a "Source" version on GitHub with only terrain changes so you can use it with datapacks like CliffTree

A 17-year-old in Iowa boiled beets in her chemistry class and turned them into stitches that change color when your wound gets infected. Her name is Dasia Taylor. It started as a science fair project. She wanted a low-tech version of the "smart stitches" Tufts researchers built in 2016. Those used thread wired up with sensors and a tiny chip that pinged your phone if something went wrong. Cool, but useless without a phone or a hospital that can afford it. Her version doesn't need any of that. Healthy skin is slightly acidic, like lemon juice but much milder. When bacteria grow in a wound, the chemistry flips and turns more like soap or baking soda. Beet juice has a quirk. The same red pigment that stains your fingers when you cook it shifts color based on what it touches. Bright red on healthy skin. Dark purple on infected skin. The switch lines up with infection almost exactly. She tested ten threads before finding a cotton-polyester blend that soaked up the dye and changed color within five minutes. That was the prototype. Around 1 in 40 American surgeries end in an infection at the cut, costing hospitals more than $3 billion a year. In poorer countries the rate is closer to 1 in 9. In parts of Africa it's 1 in 6. In some Ethiopian hospitals, up to a quarter of surgery patients leave with an infection. The whole game is catching it early. Spot it in time and antibiotics handle it. Miss the window and the patient is back on the operating table. Dasia filed a patent in 2021 and started a medical device company called VariegateHealth in 2022. The stitches haven't been tested on real patients yet. New medical device patents can take a decade. She's also looking into a side benefit: the beet pigment kills bugs like E. coli and Klebsiella in lab tests. Smart stitches need a phone to read them. Hers just need eyes.

Hot take: i think beating the progression of a game and its end boss, and pushing beyond it, should leave you with a reward that makes it all feel worth it doing. Is the elytra unbalanced and the concept of there being a "end of the game" stupid? Yea.
⭐️Starling⭐️🚅🚉🏳️‍🌈🔆🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🚀🛰️@Starl3ng814

Hot take: Elytra ruined Minecraft survival because it means there is virtually no challenge in traveling and are way tooo cheap

@b4pmain I've been wanting to make one of these onboard, with the Extra Gauges mod you could probably get one pretty compact. Also Simulated Gauges for flight info

It hurts to be sitting at 48% positive ratings after putting all our hearts and souls into this game over 4 years. So much struggle, joy and difficulties our tiny team has overcome. The critique is fair. Sorry to let you down everyone. We got work to do. Only forward from here.

@NovaWostra I agree it was implemented badly, but I think showing that they could be much prettier is still important. I also think Calcite could be great even if it doesn't make perfect sense, builders struggle to get large amounts right now so adding more to the world gen would be good

Mind you this only looks nice visually on a flat surface but 1. Makes no sence blockwise 2. Putting a bunch of raw ores there is very unbalanced 3. Uses way to many blocks for actual generation. So dont you dare use this as an example of what mojang should do.
