I got trained on a Level 1 rapid infuser yesterday, this thing is actually insane & super fucking cool. Took me a minute to remember the clamping/unclamping pattern but I got it down after practice!

@elekisms I love it, especially the anesthesia/cardiac realm. Watching my first open-heart surgery as a shadow, completely hooked me. It’s intense, technical, and rewarding. The strong earning opportunities in this specialty are just an added bonus of course xD

@ChucklesShep Sick, do you really like the OR? We’re a pain medicine clinic, so we do a lot of the steroid injections and nerve blocks guided by a c-arm or ultrasound. Most residents have an idea where they wanna do their fellowship (Our most recent one wants to do PEDS) so… was just curious.

First day done! Let the orientation & clinical rotations begin!!

@elekisms I’m currently on orientation and rotating through the different anesthesia areas. Main OR (general/peds), Women’s, IR, Radiology (MRI), and Cardio OR. It’s a large Level II trauma center, so there’s a lot of exposure. I’ll ultimately be based in the Cardio OR ^-^

@ChucklesShep Quick question! I work with anesthesia residents, medical students and anesthesia fellows… are you already specialized in cardiothoracic or do you still have to rotate and go to other departments for anesthesia and shadow?
