Fire management is postponing the previously announced prescribed fire operations this week for the Cedro Unit piles on the Sandia Ranger District due to unfavorable weather conditions until further notice. We will continue to look for future opportunities for burning windows.

Updates on Mountainair RD - Pueblo Colorado Prescribed Fire: 100 acres of pile burning completed yesterday (1/26/2025). No further ignitions are planned for this week. Fire crews will continue mop up cooling ash pits and monitor until the unit is declared out.

Mountainair RD - With all required approvals, fire crews completed 23 acres yesterday and continue ignitions today on the Red Canyon Prescribed Fire pile 49 acre project area. This work will continue as a multi-day operation as weather conditions allow.
