Have just seen that it was an Achilles rupture that Cheick Doucoure suffered, and he's made 13 appearances for Palace since November 2023. 13 games in two and a half years. I'm gutted for Ekitike because it has to be the most brutal injury in the sport. Miles worse than an ACL.

Its very funny seeing a lot of the discourse around Wirtz tbh.
You can tell who actually watched him at Leverkusen and who just watched highlights based on what people expected.
He's been used terribly. He's been given no platform. He's also not a midfielder. He's a forward.

Some people will hate me for saying this but I think Wirtz might not end up being as good as we hoped. I badly want to be wrong but I’ve not seen anything that makes me think that we’ve got someone special on our hands. He’s non existent an awful lot.

@0xJrd @SeanDOlfc You can’t blame the manager really on that because it can go the other way where players get a serious injury from being run into the ground. Last season Slot kept everyone available for basically a full season and fixed Konate’s availability issues

He also keeps dropping back in a CB position and almost making a back 5 or presses all the way too high without any aggression and leaves huge gaps in midfield

Not sure why it's taken so long for us to try this but it makes a lot more sense. Salah, Ekitike and Wirtz closer together with the width coming from the fullbacks.

@Eathen_1892 Porro is not a good defender. He’s a similar style to Trent just not as good. Would’ve liked to have seen Rio against Spence who is a genuinely good 1v1 defender
