The kid has Autism. I have Autism. When I was his age, my meltdowns usually involved lashing out. The main difference is that I wasn't forced into a mainstream school and actually got the support I needed. This kid was forced into a mainstream school and offered NO support. The teacher was not trained on how to handle an Autistic student. Something like this was never a matter of if, only when. The kid should be held accountable but be given a reduced sentence due to the unfair situation he was put in, and the teacher should also receive better training.
