January 5, 2024 marks the conclusion of a 11-year long push to see the most incredible walking landscape in Cincinnati REOPEN to the public. Closed since 1995 & barricaded sometime after, hundreds improved these connections to the Wendell Alley Steps with us since February 2012.

@nobreadsticks96 @MrKerryMD Indeed. Not entirely sure what the finished state will look like yet, but it’s shown in the plan. Delighted to see reuse of cobbles/bowlders for that purpose, as the path becomes more stable and accessible.

City work on the Wendell Alley Steps commences!
Also, very impressed with evolution of North Wendell Alley, leading from Rice St via St. Joe Al to the top of the stairs. It’s been converted from an overgrown alley w/deteriorated asphalt into a fully accessible pedway with SMP.

We’re grateful for @WeMoveCincy’s full replacement of the Brighton Place Stairway (Step ID 018)! It now features stable treads, a bicycle runnel(!!!), and an improved @CincyParks greenspace to the west.
As of Black Friday, only handrails and 101’s need to be installed.

Did you know that a handful of public stairways in Cincinnati are sidewalk steps, designed to make it easier to scale inclined streets?
A portion of our once-400+ stairway count has been converted to sidewalks, due to the relative ease of access to sidewalk funding over steps.
