601 CT head scans. 5 bleeds, 4 of which predicted by high risk status. So 596 people no benefit from scan and many will have had unseen harm- a trip to ED, fear or pain in scanner, a hospital stay, ‘deconditioning’ aka ‘got worse in hospital’ - we need to change this!

Which is why it’s essential to build robust virtual ward/hospital @home models of care. Reactive approaches to incidents are not the best or safest approach.Planned and considered models of care that enable discharge & utilise community capacity are in everyones best interest

Those who aren't geriatricians can assume that CGA is an assessment process, whereas the initiated are aware that CGA is a multidimensional assessment process with actions. I think the key part of the message is "actions"

We know that #CGA is as or more effective than treatments like antihypertensives and other drugs. Is our branding of CGA the issue? We need to develop consistent messaging around its use — to be “loud and proud” about what can deliver for our frail patients. #BGSconf

@emmajunejames Thanks Emma. #Teletriage service is so much a part of this for our care home residents as well. So pleased we have such good working relationships between services (including the NPOPs and matrons) to hand patients over for proactive management
