If they’re gonna Americanize the sport to shit anyway, why bring in artists to do the World Cup halftime show that wouldn’t even be relevant enough to do the Superbowl?

The funniest movie of all time is going to be greenlit as soon as The Odyssey’s box office crosses the billion dollar mark. I don’t know who the director is going to be or what the subject will be about, but it’s going to cost $300 million and it’s going to be a disaster.

You insist on calling it ”cartoon logic” despite the fact that none of your examples follow any logic or adhere to physical law. In our majestic universe nothing escapes the force of gravity. That coyote would simply fall to the bottom of the cliff the second he stepped off of it

my letterboxed reviews dont get likes because i actually review the movies instead of writing pithy one liners

@Cinescaping @elrito248 @artwithinpod yeah i got a paper flagged for potential ai in 2024 when it was still fairly new to the mainstream, but it also said i “plagiarized” descartes when all i did was directly quote and cite in text: “i think therefore i am” so they could tell it was a false positive lol.

@karianntan1 Nah, because in that movie there was a whole thing about that one guy losing his memory, and the disfigured person in the cave, and the dog growing old….wait a minute

If you guys really think about it, The Odyssey really is about the beach that makes you old

@ha3mhu @elrito248 @artwithinpod I’m very happy I got my degree in 2018 because I do love myself some em dashes and giving examples in groups of three I think it’s because growing up with English as a second language I tried emulating a ”professional, pedagogical writing style”…which unfortunately AI does too

@HeroinNancy @filmfae @miakhalifa Most days I don’t hear it, but it’s always there if I listen for it. Don’t know where you’re at, but I’ve had it for years and it gets better. Slept with nature sounds in the background for a few years, now I don’t need to (but it’s cozy so)

@pourfairelevide Not the same thing, but I’d recommend Philip Glass’ Akhnaten. Shows you ancient Egypt as a profound, otherworldly place. By the end you can’t verbalize the feeling of such an alien experience and then comes a modern historian and gives some facts and you’re like ”that wasn’t it!”

I want an Odyssey adaptation (and an Odyssey translation) that makes you feel in your bones how profoundly different the archaic Greeks were from us. Basically space aliens. Nolan is just fundamentally not interested in that kind of estrangement.

@TheChrisLambert @artwithinpod Well, everyone knows The Sea People were a wide range of groups from all over the Mediterranean. What this film presupposes is…maybe it wasn’t?

@michelangelee @Costco01517758 @artwithinpod I mean we’re pretty sure it was a domino effect of all of the above: natural disasters + climate change -> droughts and famine -> economic collapse and increased plundering Of course we’ll never be able to say ”On October 7th, 1227 BCE it all started” since there’s not one cause

@Cinescaping @Costco01517758 @artwithinpod We still don't know exactly why unfortunately. Many more educated guesses (Mt. Thera eruptions, climate change and consequential famines, etc), but still unknown. Likely as well that "sea peoples" were marauders also responding to the Bronze Age Collapse, not merely the catalysts
