Max Verstappen is the first driver to win a F1 race followed by a race in another series in a span of 7 days in the history of F1. This has literally never happened before in F1. The only other instance of a F1 driver winning a F1 race followed by a race in different category was Stirling Moss in 1956. Moss won the Monaco GP followed by 1000km of Nurburgring. Like Ickx, Phil Hill, Jim Clark and Dan Gurney also won consecutive races in different categories. However, the order was endurance racing/indy followed by a F1 race. #NLS

Max Verstappen becomes the first F1 driver to win races in two different racing series’ in consecutive races since Jacky Ickx in 1972 (1000km of Watkin Glens followed by German GP) #NLS

If he had continued to race for a few years and continued to win an average of 5-6 races a year (he won 21 from 2014-2016) he would have had easily gone on to be top 5 race winners in F1. He would have surpassed Alonso, Lauda and possibly even Vettel in race wins. He is still top 5 all time for pole positions, which I find mind boggling. But dude said nah, time to step away from all that.

9 years ago today, Nico Rosberg became a Formula 1 world champion after an intense season-long title fight with Lewis Hamilton. He would retire 5 days later.

@Circus_f1 The actual point Seb was making is that Lewis has always been in British racing teams and how their culture is. Ferrari is different and Lewis has never had to learn a new language and culture before joining a f1 team so he was passing advice on to help Lewis integrate better.

When you, a champion, go to a team that hasn’t won in a decade, the team should adapt to your leadership and not the other way round. Do you recall Kimi Raikkonen ever speaking Italian? Dude didn’t even say Forza Ferrari and he won some ten races and a championship there. Leclerc, Vettel, Alonso all spoke Italian. No championships. Yes it worked for Schumacher. Because with Schumacher came Brawn and Todt, who then changed the culture at the team.

🚨 | Sebastian Vettel: “I told Lewis before, when he made the move, I said, the only advice I can give you, the best advice I can give you is learn the language, learn it really, really well."

In the interview, he literally says “I should have spent more time learning Italian.” He also talks about how certain engineers could speak English but it wasn’t their native tongue, so they would have trouble expressing clearly what they were trying to say. And if he knew Italian better, he would have better communication with these engineers. He even talks about how him being a German, he was used to learning a different language (English) to communicate better. And for Lewis, it will be difficult to just up and learn a new language. Yes, he speaks about culture as well but a major part of his explanation is literally just about the language.
