My main takeaways from this historic-level performance (based on highlights below - have not rewatched match, but saw live) (1) Near technical perfection. Almost every touch is calibrated, efficient and oriented to produce vertical momentum, engage tight situations at all-time level of proficiency. (2) Elite physical sharpness and conditioning. Ronaldo is engaged and firing sharply and efficiently in his physical actions - sprints, jumps, turns. (3) Decision making - exquisite interpretation of the play. Always picking out the right action and importantly - the right tool: left foot when necessary. (4) Completeness as a footballer: wins first and second balls with his heading, wins duels, sprints from deep, sprints into space, ball carrying, play construction, scoring. (5) Historical decisiveness. Scoring a world cup hattrick is practically unheard of. Doing so against a superior team puts this squarely in the category of historical performances.

Stat apps reward bloat over minimalism. They condition you to think that more is better. They NEVER tell you about the quality of a certain pass, the impact of a run, the consequences of one dribble over another. We can see in this comp how even the backward passes by ronaldo unlock vertical progress for the team. He disrupts space with unmatched dynamism and covered huge amounts of vertical ground in his youth - the most as far as i can tell. Move away from the apps and start appreciating football again!

The same kind of criticism mbappe is currently receiving, Ronaldo was once in that position when he joined Madrid despite putting up insane goal scoring numbers just like kylian Ronaldo went 2 years before winning his first trophy for Madrid, he openly complained about the squad depth, league corruption and play style of both his teammates and opponents. Kylian mbappe has not put up any attitude towards his teammates and fans yet he gets called the dictator while players like Cristiano get praised for their ego We currently have players who openly criticize coaches and refused contract renewal if that particular coach isn't removed yet kylian is still labeled as the dictator The only players I've seen who have faced criticism head on this season and openly spoken to the press and the fans are only kylian mbappe and courtois, our so called "captains" only show up to celebrate when we win but hide when we lose, dodging criticism Actual fans at the bernabeau who go to watch the match week in, week out do not criticize kylian mbappe because they see his performance head on, but our so called "media outlets" and "Madrid fan accounts" are the ones making an agenda even worse than the ones rival fans have against us it's disgraceful to see criticism towards a player who is backed by Cristiano Ronaldo, Luka modric, Carlo ancelloti, Toni kroos, Dani carvajal and many more Madrid legends who live and breathe the game. We're all hurt to see the madrid we know and love to be in a situation like this and we all want to blame someone or something and kylian is the easiest to pick out because of the agenda built up against him but deep down we know he is not the problem of Madrid currently. We can do so much better as a fanbase to support the club during a difficult time like this. Halamadrid 🤍
