Just an hour into Regenerate #CentralSouth Annual Conference and already feeling energized by reconnecting with industry colleagues. I'll be speaking on the Planning Panel a little later on - If you are around today, please come and say hi! #BizSouthEvents

Marion Baeli on the Retrofit Imperative for #CentralSouthUK - such a well-rounded agenda: (new) housing, retrofit, and planning. We know that 80% of buildings that will be in use in 2050 have already been built -- so Retrofit at Scale is critical for the built environment.

Random query for others in #London - is anyone else's hayfever this year better than normal? Was enjoying the sensation without assigning cause until husband posited it could be due to the ULEZ, & am wondering if that could be true. Anyone else less personally attacked by spring?

We've launched an important new resource to connect researchers and policymakers. The Areas of Research Interest Database lets you see the research questions Government departments are interested in, plus UKRI-funded work by area, all in an easy-to-use interface. (1/3)

Anybody who wants to work in urban or transport planning, highways teams or transport authorities should, as part of their induction, spend 8 hrs walking around their city pushing an empty pram while carrying a toddler who is refusing to get into said pram.

The Dutch invest €595 million annually on urban biking, resulting in €19 BILLION saved in public health care costs alone. That’s how smart govts do the math on investing in better mobility. Let’s be clear — it wastes public money to NOT do it. #CityMakingMath HT @modacitylife

Here’s the latest devo map from @lgcplus Look at the absolute chaos there - and the map does not even include the myriad of local governance bodies that operate below and across the CA level 🤯 The ungovernable governance of devolution…

And to those of you who have not yet reached 'the age', please be wrapped in the warmth that this nagging belief is not abnormal, but it is also not fate. I wish we talked about some of these things more.

@euanmills The other challenge with deck access is mortgage-ability - even this year providers have been refusing to mortgage deck access properties, which in turn decreases sales price and viability even further.

It’s a full house! Really buzzing to get going on tonight’s Annual Lecture event at @Arup talking about Co-designing Equity, and how we can bring #LGBTQ and #BAME lived experiences into the work we do designing spaces around us. #WeAreArup #BuildingEquality

@EmilyKerr36 Yes! It often occurs to me that cycling is the most joyous way to commute to work. It has the opposite effect to driving and even public transport: I feel more connected to those around me, I put fewer walls up, I can interact more, and I am happy and energised!

Train to Bristol nice and early this morning, and for the first time noticed these gorgeous patterns on the structural beams. (Is there a word for these?) It was so nice to have the time to look up and admire, for once.

First tweet in a while - have been struggling with the feeling that regions of Twitter can tend towards echochambers of self-promotion, don't always resonate. But have reminded myself that I love sharing knowledge, and Twitter is great for that. So hope to share more soon!
